Once a person makes the exchange of the old life for Christ’s new one, God’s hope is for growth … spiritual growth which will last a lifetime. Starting a new life spiritually is no different than the starting line of our physical lives: growing is critical. The Bible gives new followers of Christ this direction: Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good. (1 Peter 2:2)
There are several ways to grow as you follow Christ:
Grow in the Bible. There are many resources – let us suggest some:
- Begin reading in the book of John (Jesus’ closest friend)
- 42 Steps Ahead (written especially for new believers by our pastor, Steve McCoy)
- 40daysintheword.com (a great resource from Rick Warren)
- The Disciple Prayer Guide
Get involved in a church as a community of faith.
Being with other followers of Christ and growing together is critical to your spiritual growth. God’s direction to new followers is to become baptized and become part of a community of faith.
Grow relationships small.
Growing is not about ‘going to church’ – it is about relationships. At 360, we offer @Groups that meet a couple of times a month – these Mid Circle groups have 10-14 people and meet in homes. We also offer a person-to-person spiritual mentoring track called Xchange.
